Filter Gravel
Graded silica gravel used as a support layer in filter beds. Available in 1–3 mm, 2–3 mm and 3–5 mm classes.

What is Filter Gravel?
Filter gravel is a graded silica gravel with high abrasion resistance, used in the lowest layer of water-treatment beds. In slow and rapid sand-filter systems it carries the filter sand as a support layer and regulates drainage. Compliant with TS EN 12904, it is produced washed and screened at our facilities in the Trakya region.
Filter gravel is a high-SiO₂ silica gravel that acts as a support layer in filter beds, graded into 1–3 mm, 2–3 mm and 3–5 mm classes. With a typical SiO₂ content of 96.3%, its high abrasion resistance and chemical stability allow it to be laid beneath the filter sand to ensure even distribution and collection of the water. Its washed, dust-free structure delivers stable bed performance during backwashing.

Where is it used?
Laid beneath the filter sand in layers of different sizes to ensure even distribution of the water and to prevent the filter media from being carried away by the flow.
Provides high permeability and durability in drainage applications.
Improves filter efficiency as a lower support layer in rapid and slow sand filters.

What is filter gravel used for?
It acts as a support layer in the lowest part of filter beds; it carries the filter sand, ensures even distribution of the water and prevents the filter media from escaping with the flow.
What sizes is filter gravel used in?
Depending on the bed structure, the 1–3 mm, 2–3 mm and 3–5 mm classes are laid in layers from fine to coarse.
Are filter gravel and filter sand used together?
Yes. The filter gravel forms the lower support layer and the filter sand forms the upper filtration layer.
